CATIA Equivalent to Seed and Boundary Select?

Hi,

Does CATIA have the ability to select geometry in the same way that CREO/Pro-E can with their Seed and Boundary function?

Case: Engine block, want to select all the internals of the coolant jacket. In CREO one can select a surface on the jacket (e.g. inside somewhere) then select all the boundaries, i.e. where ever the jacket breaks out the block to 'cap' the selection. Then all faces between the boundaries are selected.

I know one should be modelling the coolant jacket as a separate core, but assume they haven't.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can select them , CATIA seems to operate differently to other CAD systems in that there aren't many options for selecting, most of this is done using extract functions. You could extract using tangent propagation but its no the same as the see/boundary method used by Pro/E and UG.

Hmm, this is a shame. I'll give the extract a go though. That might get me most of the way there. Cheers

Try extract with tangent continuity. As log as the coolant jacket is not filleted to the faces where the jacket exits the block, it should do what you want. If not, you can use multi extract to pick all the surface individually and keep them in one node.
