Hello,

I am new to the admin part of CATIA and need help on how to create a pyramid structure of admin settings.

I need to create seperate groups having seperate settings for CATIA. The ref settings and the user setings will be on a server and depending on the group the user belongs to he will access those particular settings ( Customized tollbars etc).

Now i know i need to create a super user and individual admins for all the groups which will be controlled by the super user,,,but apart from that i am clueless.

Would appreciate any help on this!!

Thanks!

Hi,

Well, you have a lot of things to do....

I would suggest to create custom catsettings for your groups (I suppose you want also to limit access to specific licences), save them on a read only area and create some scripts to let users to delete all catsettings (in caase of corruption) and copy back from the ROA the standard/master catsettings. In addition, create some scripts to copy catsettings with user preferences (their own toolbar positions or whatever they customize), back-up in a temporary folder, then overwrite the master catsettings (there are only four catsettings which you have to take care to let your users be happy with their own customization - personally I'm backing up those catsettings because I like to mix workbenches a.s.o and I hate to recreate them again and again).

If you will do this, you don't need any super user or individual admins for the groups, they just need to tell you what they want and you can modify the catsettings according to the new requirements.

You will need also to create a CATIA launcher (or some shortcuts) and force users to use them in order to launch CATIA with their group catsettings.

Regards
Fernando
