It’s like a nightmare …. isn’t it ?
I’m just coming back after a 6 year break, to needing to view Catia models.
Previously I used 3DVIA Composer, an already bloated version of the great original SEEMAGE programme, now THAT was an example of productivity at it’s best.
I now delve into the Catia world once more and discover that things have changed !
So, 3DVIA Composer becomes CATIA Composer …. .to what end ? … to what advantage ? … is it more bloated than before ? … .does it still fully support all file types ? … how fast is it ? … what are it’s known drawbacks/bugs ?
As for CATIA, the last time I had to use it V5 was king. V6 had just rolled out and was more or less vilified in the industry I was working at the time.
Now we have : CATIA 3D Experience !!! ??? What the hell is all that about ? Is it just a front-end name to get the whole of the glorious Cad world onboard the DS train?
CATIA 5 rolls on. But for how long ? It was never that user-friendly/productive imo.
But what happened to CATIA V6 ??? …. effectively abandoned in 2013 ???
I challenge anyone to find the official blurb about V6 by going onto , starting at homepage and finding it via the menus !!!
A page is there but supposedly just to satisfy the contractual obligations for the suckers … err sorry forwardthinkers who jumped immediately on the bandwagon at the time.
The DS marketing peeps, they’re very good with these useless phrases like …
“encourage innovation across the extended enterprise” …
“leverages the capacity of innovation for companies of all sizes”
… and the rest of that marketing tripe, but where are the nitty gritty facts, and more amazingly the utter lack of visibility of the connection (ìf any at all) between any of these products.
A picture paints a thousand words as they say, and I don’t see even the slightest preliminary sketch !
Can anyone answer any of the questions above ? … to help me decide whether to follow the yellow-brick-CATIAcomposer route or follow my intuition and use something else which moreover is highly likely to be more productive … and still around in 5 yrs time !
