At our facility we are using catia v4 - Unix environment. We sent the 3D model to one of the tool shop modifier company. They use some other softare(may be) but they asked the model in DOS environment as they are using.
I am not sure how to save the 3D model in catia v4 unix medium to DOS environment?
What kind of option/file extension when one do Save as for DOS environment?

Hi,
Catia V4 works only for Unix environment ! if you want to use your 3D model on DOS environment you have to use Catia V5; Catia V5 reads V4 models.
You save your CAD in .model

I was jst wondering that the way we save the picture file like .jpeg, .bmp , if we have option to save as DOS environment ?
I am sure Tool shop is not using Catia v5 otherwise there won't be a problem b'coz as you said V5 can open V4 model.(possibly tool shop is using UG)
Also, we don't have any translator installed on the catia v4 system.

The biggest problem getting a Windows/DOS based V5 system is in the file nameing. CATIA V4 uses some funky characters to represent spaces and other non-alphanumeric characters in the file name. These can be changed thru your unix environment using a sed script. Or simply use your CDE file manager to re-name the files and eliminate the characters that Windows/DOS doesn't understand.
