Hi,

Is it possible to "snap" the solid A to solid B, in such a way that A will overlay the B one? (Body A is a dumb solid)

I would be very interested to know if I could do that in a similar way to the "snap" components command in Assembly workbench.
Also, I would like to learn if the Compass can be used for the same reason like the one above (overlaying a body into another one).....

Thanks you!

I do not have this option......

How could I get it?

axis-to-axis transformation? place a coord system on your dumb solid, and a similar one on your bracket...

Thank LWolf,

That's the best option at the moment.
I wished I could use Itsmyjob's suggestion: the "Cumulative Snap" function...
Does anybody know more about that tool?

Put the solid that you want to move into another part in an assembly and then move that part at the assembly level. Once you get it where you want it 1. Activate the original part 2. Copy the solid in the new part 3. 'Paste Special' --> 'As Result' the solid back into the original part. It will be at the location that it is in the assembly.

Weagan22,

Itsmyjob:

I believe that the "Cumulative Snap" function is available in Assembly/Product only...…..
Have you meant that?

Cumulative Snap should be in DMU Navigator (DMN license).

Iscariot,

I was wondering if CATPart or GSD has a similar tool.
Able to move parts or/and surfaces......

in CATPart you can use compass and axis to move isolated elements...

movingwithcompass_rhydg5.gif

[ol 1]
[li]create target axis[/li]
[li]create source axis (becomes current)[/li]
[li]move compass anywhere on geometry (becomes orange)[/li]
[li]unselect geometry (compass become white)[/li]
[li]open compass parameter (from double click on compass)[/li]
[li]define reference as active object (will get current -source- axis as reference)[/li]
[li]define position 0,0,0, rotation 0,0,0[/li]
[li]verify nothing is selected (compass white)[/li]
[li]apply position[/li]
[li]compass only move to source axis[/li]
[li]define target axis as current[/li]
[li]make sure reference is picket new current target axis value[/li]
[li]select source surface (compass turn orange)[/li]
[li]define position 0,0,0 rotation 0,0,0[/li]
[li]make sure only source surface is selected[/li]
[li]apply[/li]
[li]source surface moves with compass to target axis on target surface[/li]
