Happy Friday!

Please, have a look below, at the tree of the two CATParts.
The color of the Bodys in the left are gray (do not know what that means....).
I need to meet the company's standards, which requires to use hybrid design only (see the CATPart located on the right).
I want to modify the left CATPart to have its Bodies looking identical with those shown on the right picture.
What other option I'd have to do this?
I could remodel the original math data into the file on the right, copying the sketch and creating a new model and then Saving As.
But I was wondering if there is something faster, which also, would allow me to keep the original file.
Anticipated thanks!

I think if you search the forum you'll find a lot of information about this.

Summary of the icons: The grey gear icon means the body is non-hybrid but your Catia setting is set to hybrid mode. The green gear icon means the part body is the same mode as the Catia settings. A yellow body means it is a hybrid body but your Catia setting is set to non-hybrid mode.

Interestingly, it is possible to have a mix of hybrid and non-hybrid bodies in a part. This is determined by each body individually.

To update this part, I think you could simply add a new body to your part model. Copy the elements from Body.2 into the new body. You may need to use "Paste Special / As Specified". Once that is completed, set your new body as the 'PartBody' object, and delete the other two bodies.

For this case, I would bet it's pretty simple. Normally if a company has a rule about hybrid bodies, the rule is never use them. It's much more difficult to turn a hybrid-body part into non-hybrid...but I think this would be pretty easy. That said, I've never had a reason to try it. Also, I don't know if mixing in sheet metal features will make any difference, but I'm guessing no.

Hope that helps,
Mark

did you try to make a file using new from?

Will that turn the non-hybrid bodies into system defined hybrid bodies?

Let us know

I'll try that, Itsmyjob.
Thank you so much!

The problem is that the "container" (the system created PartBody can't be deleted; it'll stay "gray" and I do not want that.
Is there any way to update the original PartBody from grey to green?

I tried to make a file using "New from".
It would keep the same behavior, so this is not o solution.

thanks for feedback...

to remove the partbody:

create another new body (it should be green) then select the option (under right click) to make it the partbody.

Then remove the old grey ex-partbody

Finally, I just create a new file and overwritten the previous one in TCe.
In this way, I saved all the links of the original file.
Thanks you all for assistance and consideration.

HAPPY FOOLS DAY!
