catproduct and catpart, what is the difference 1

Hello,
In very simple terms, what is the difference between a CatProduct and a CatPart?

If I am designing an internal combustion engine, then is the engine the CatProduct and the piston, crankshaft etc are they CatParts?

CATProduct = Assembly
CATPart = Component within the assembly

Yes. The combustion engine is the CATProduct (i.e. Assembly) and all of the CATParts within it are the components that make up the engine assembly.

why do you have to do this with catia? It seems you did not get training on the software.
