Hi there,

I am doing a numerical study on the rate effects of piezocone using the commercial software PLAXIS. I am asked to implement the cavity expansion theory to perform an initial undrained analysis for kaolin clay. Currently, I am reading several papers by Yu and Houlsby but still have a very vague idea as to where to head now. Any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would suggest a Google search for Horizontal Directional Drill and cavity expansion. Cavity expansion theory is used in
HDD applications to reduce potential for hydrofracture events.
