CE mark/compliance for CTs

Can anyone, especially you European Folks, tell me anything about CE requirements for instrument transformers, and more specifically CTs. I have encountered this request several times and no one can tell me if they are even covered in any standard or directive or if any testing body has ever approved compliance for these products. I keep running into dead ends here.

I would appreciate any and all comments on this subject.

I guess it can be the European Measuring Instrument Directive 2004/22/EC. Check and see if it fits. If not, tell me what CT stands for.

I'm sorry, I sent same to electrical forums not thinking others may not know what a CT is. It is simply a Current Transformer. It comes in two main varieties - a fully rated stand-alone device with primary and secondary windings or a window-type with only a secondary winding that fits over a conductor which serves as its primary winding. I have browsed the Low voltage directives and have not found current transformers on the list, yet OEM's are specifying the requirement for CE compliance. In most cases a CT is a component of a larger apparatus, such as a power circuit breaker, power transformer, or large AC generator.

Thanks for the explanation. Then it should be the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC even if "current transformers" are not specifically mentioned. But the directive is applicable for all electrical devices with a nominal voltage between 50 and 1000 V and between 75 and 1500 V DC. Exceptions are listed in Appendix 2 and current transformers do not appear in this appendix.

I would have thought that "Elector Magnetic Compatibility" would also have had to be considered.
