how to design the foundation for a guyed tower? since the base of the tower can be assumed pin connection, the foundation only has to carry vertical gravity load of the tower. I'm thinking a small pile foundation will do. also, what's the common anchor design for the guy wires?

Depending upon soil conditions, the foundation will either be a mat or a drilled shaft. A drilled shaft is most typical for guyed tower. As for the guy anchors, either drilled shaft (uplift and lateral loading) or deadman anchor (uplift and sliding) are common.
