How can I experiment with potential use of industrial/agricultural/post-consumer wastes in the production of cement-bonded particle/fibreboard in a university-laboratory-oriented environment for final year student projects? I know that in a semi-dry process of cement-based particle/fibre boards, hydraulic cements (such as OPC), sand, and particles/fibres/chips/flakes are first mixed with water and then spread in a mold. Clamped under pressure for 6-8 hours at about 80 degrees C and then cured for a period of 2-4 weeks would finally produce a cement-based particle/fibre board. My question is if the above is an acceptable approach, what would be the necessary clamping pressure? Can it be of any nominal pressure?
azmi ibrahim
azmi@civil.engr.itm.edu.my

I'm always keen to learn more to advance
myself in areas that I'm interested in.

Can we ask some articles about cement-bonded board using nutshells? and please include the source where you get it.can you give us some uses of cement-onded board using nutshells?

In the production of CBPB the initial moisture contains cement, wood, water and chemicals (aluminium sulphate and sodium silicate for example). Then the boards are clamped under pressure for about 12 hours in 80ºC with a pressure 30 Kg/cm2. Then they are stabilized for about 7 days (minimum) and then they go to a dry tunnel.
I know that are various investigations concerning the incorporation of various materials (coconuts fibber for example) in the moisture of the board but I don’t have articles.

Hope this help
