How would you go about designing a tubesheet that has a center feed pipe coming through? The tubesheet would be 24"OD and a 12-3/4"od hole surrounded by (196) 3/4"od holes.

jaybone, if you are designing to Sec VIII, Div. 1 you may be able to design per UG-39(c) and Appendix 14. It may depend upon the pitch of your 3/4" holes whether or not these rules are applicable. See also UG-39(b)(2) and (b)(3).

Mike

I haven't looked the methods of UG-39(c), but does these methods take boundary conditions (like thermal expansion or support of tubes and support provided by pipe in central opening) into account?

I'm desiging same kind of tubesheet, but the tubesheet OD is about 2000 mm and hole is 900 mm and there is hundreds of small (about 32 mm) heat exchanger pipes around central opening.
