Center line

How can I draw a center line of canal. My canal is not smooth and have a lot curve . If I have two side of canal how can I draw it fast. Now I draw a lot of section lines perpendicular with bank of canal( between 30m example) and make a center line base on this.
Do you have any advise? If I do manual, when I want to change center line it take time.
If you have any recommend, you can show me.

If the canal sides are equidistant from each other all along its length, you could turn the canal side boundary to a polyline and then offset it the correct distance. Otherwise you would have to make a complicated algorithm to pick points between the sides and then calculate perpendicular distances and estimate the center path. I do not know of any routine that could do this.
