Ceramic Fracture under Compression

We know that the compression ratio between various shapes of ceramic materials are different, the shapes having very different behaviors under compression.<br>
<br>
Would you pleaset opinion as to why this is so? Why do the shapes behave differently under compression and why is compression different in relation to shape?<br>
