We are looking for someone to help us satisfy a clause in our contract to build electrical switchgear that reads as follows:

..."certification of H2S withstand with respect to being suitable for use in H2S concentrations per OSHA regulations for continuous worker exposure".

Our company is located in Florida, and the project is for the state of New York.

Anyone have any ideas as to who we can go to for this "certification"?

Vague question. I assume that there is H2S in the environment otherwise the question seems to be moot to be.

I would suggest that the switchgear be installed in an environmetnal controlled building or that you use an instrument air purge to create a slight positive pressure in the enclosure. If you are also providing the control house then you should contact a HVAC consultant engineer.

As far as an independent agency providing the certification I have not heard of any. My guess is that the buyer is looking to the switchgear manufacture to certify that the equipment can operate in an atmosphere containing H2S.

no switchgear can be rated for H2S environment

you have to provide suitable environmental controls and positive pressure
