Hi,

I need to apply a wind load on steel construction with complicated shape and combine it with another load cases. I would like to perform a CFD analyse to calculate the external pressure coefficients PCOE. I am a new one on CFD field and so far I have studied only some tutorials, but the subsequent results are not good enough I think. First of all I would like to make a simple model and obtain pattern similar to attached image, then I going to extend it for more complicated shape. I attached a working input file as well.

Can someone advise me how to set boundary condition for this problem, please ?

Any help which show me the right way will be appreciated. I am interested in good tutorial as well.

Thank you
Lubo

Hi,

I realized that density of air I set incorrectly. I refined mesh density as well. It seems to work, but still it does not converge. In post1 I can see almost the same pressure coefficients (if you use a macro on the end of the input file) as in the image posted earlier, but values are still incorrect. How to torce this model to converge ?

please help !

Hi,

finally I have a model which converge but I had to set transient solution instead steady-state. Also I use a turbulent model according an article which I found. Seems to work but I am still not sure whether the results are valid or not.

Can someone check the setting, mesh density/quality and say whether the results are correct, please ?

Does transient type have to be set always when turbulent model is used ?

I attached an imput file with iges file.
