CGM Not matching drawing :(

Hi All,

I'm using NX4 and TCEng 9. When I release a drawing and a CGM file is created the CGM does not match the drawing. If I directly export the CGM from NX I can change the Text selection from Text to Polylines. This creates a correct CGM file but I can't figure out how to change this when it is releasing a drawing and creating the CGM automatically.

I'm told this is fixed in NX5 but is that true?

Any ideas really appreciated.

Sorry Noyce,

You question may have been a bit obscure. Since I don't happen to know anyone using NX-4 with TCEng 9 therein hangs a tale. Perhaps if you could provide some material to both illustrate and describe how to reproduce your problems in native then we could comment properly.

In the meantime tell us this much, what font are you using in on the original drawing, and when you re-import the CGM to NX what font is then used. You will be able to test this out of native and using your TCEng approach and compare the results. I suspect the font may change and possibly with it the aspect ratio.

That's why I'm as happy to output polylines, or a PDF for that matter, because to my way of thinking it is only a viewing copy and I don't use it to translate data to other CAD systems etc... If I could find ewh's dead horse emoticon I would possibly insert it here as transferring drawings between systems is the great lost cause of CAD.

Best regards

Hudson

I think I remember having this problem a long time ago.

You may want to call the GTAC and ask them about this, they can quickly search their database for an answer.
You may be able to get onto their webpage and do a search for yourself - it's been a while since I have been on there, but I assume you can still do it.

Hudson,
It is one of the animal emoticons - [ deadhorse ] (eliminate the spaces).

Thank you for your replies

I can export CGM from NX (using File-export-CGM) and change text selection from text to polylines and it works fine. The trouble is when we release a drawing for manufacture within TCEng it automatically creates a CGM and uses the text option instead of polylines.

Unfortunately I don't how (and even if it is possible) to change the option when it creates the cgms upon release. I'm presuming it may be an option within TCEng?

Mark,

have you tried to see if there is anything in the customer defaults for exporting CGM? It could be that easy, maybe worth a try.

Best Regards
