I am working on a preliminary layout of a chain drive for a dohc V8 engine. Could someone direct me to a website, or tell my what the basic proportions are for automotive chain? These include

Pitch (9.525mm?)

Width of chain link, to provide for clearance

Sprocket thickness

How to draw tooth shapes (or just calculate pitch, od, and root diameter

Thanks for any information

jlwoodward,
Borg-Warner in Ithaca, NY makes of the "silent" chains, used in automotive industry. The sprockets use the involute shaped teeth (similar to the gears). Try to get info from them.
