Chain Length

Hi all, wondering what is the convention for indicating the chain length of a chain-operated valve. Do you usually specify the total length of the chain loop (i.e. up and down), or just the distance from the valve to the bottom of the loop?

It sounds like a MTO question. Suggest to specify the total length of the chain required.
