change material

I'm modelling a 3D excavation and i'm filling the excavated parts with another material.Does anybody know how can i change the material of a set through different steps?

You can use an *Import option, and start new - job with changed material properties.

You can:

1. use *MODEL CHANGE to activate/deactivate elements in different steps.

2. use UMAT subroutine to code the constitutive response; this subroutine is provided with the step no. and the current time. Therefore, you can change the constitutive response at a specific time.
