I'm using NX3, but it shouldn't be too different for you. Do a file search in the C:\program files\UGS directory for *.jpg and you'll see a number of jpg files of the UG NX background. I found 11 in various language folders. I don't know how your system is configured, but I suppose you could rename the old background file so you can reuse it later if needed, then rename the file you want to use to the original background file name and place it in the appriopriate folder. I haven't actually tried this (I don't have anything suitable cool to substitute it), but it should work.

Good luck!

You can change the so-called 'No-Part' backgound by setting the environment variable UGII_BACKGROUND_URL= to the path of an html document of your choice. This can be done by either editing the ugii_env.dat file in the UGII folder, by adding this variable to the system and/or user's profile, or from within a .bat file, if that is the way that you' re starting NX (which is the mechanism that I use to start NX).

Thanks, John. In ugii_env.dat, there are a couple of lines of script that basically say "if this file is on the local drive, use it, otherwise use that one". Given that it is called a backgound URL, is there a way to test for whether a web page exists, and display this instead? I can get the web page to display, no, problems, but can't seem to get the test to work. It is
"If FILE <blah blah> then"
etc

Is there an alternative to FILE, say, to check a web page?
