Hi All,
This might sound lame but however I must ask.

Is there a way to change the Frictional contact to Bonded contact in the same analysis?

I want a frictional contact in Loadstep-1 and after that I want to execute a Bonded contact for the same frictional surfaces for Loadstep-2

Thanks in advance,
Alpete

Never done it but it should be possible. Is it in workbench or apdl?

Make a model with frictional contact in WB say.
In WB insert then an apdl command snippet in the static struct. (A5), and choose to activate it in step 2 (can be done under details of command apdl)

This is added in the snippet:
--
esel,s,type,,cid ! selects contacts
esel,a,type,,tid

KEYMOD,cid,12,3 ! this modifies it to bonded, but you might want to understand the contact keyopts in order to change them better
KEYMOD,tid,12,3

allsel,all

The act is probably using the above commands. Where did you get this, I have not seen it in the app store? This exists under conditions, and is called contact step control in case you want to use it Alpete

In newer versions you could also create two contacts and activate/deactivate them
thus not needing a command snippet.

Thank you L_K and Erik,
I'll look into the suggestions provided.

Regards,
Alpete
