Hi,
I want to change the material properties of a partition of my model during the analysis. (It is a 2D model with a hyperelastic material.) An old thread to this topic ( states that there are two ways of doing this:
-- using the *FIELD option (which can cause convergence difficulties if there is nonlinearity)
-- defining two distinct sets of elements on the same partition, assigning the sets to different materials and switching between them with *MODEL CHANGE, REMOVE/ADD
I am trying to use the second method because there are nonlinearity and large displacements.
THE PROBLEM IS:
The sets which I can select in the section assignment tool in order to assign them to the distinct materials have to be geometry sets (and not element sets). Therefore, I use geometry sets (named set-a and set-b). Furthermore, Abaqus does not recognize the sets properly when it comes to removing them: *MODEL CHANGE, REMOVE Part_name.set-a removes both set-a and set-b so that there remains a whole in the model. In addition, there is no difference between adding set-a or set-b with *MODEL CHANGE, ADD. In both cases Abaqus adds the set which has been defined last in the section assignment tool.
Can anyone help me??
Thanks in advance!
