Changing Material Type by Element

I need to modify an already existing model, specifically changing the material type of multiple parts. I am wondering if it is possible to change the material type by element. I know how to edit the section assignment for an individual part. But I am curious to see if it possible to change material part by element, because I want to make one part that is one material type 2 different materials. I want to know if this is possible so I do not have to delete and re-make any parts that need to be modified.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Read the documentation for *Distribution. What you are after is a spatially varying material assignment.
