Changing Part-Attribute DB_SEED_PART_USED in NX8 1

Hello,

is it possible to change the NX8 Part Attribute DB_SEED_PART_USED? This Attribute holds the Seedpart (template) used to create the part. In NX4 with TCE9.1.3 it was possible to change the value of this Attribute. But in NX8 with TCUA8.3 it is not possible for me to change it. I tried to export the named reference and open the part native in NX8. But this doesn't work too.
Have anyone an idea how to change it?

Since the Attribute is a so-called 'DB_' attribute this means that it was originally defined by Teamcenter and as such should only be modified using Teamcenter. Prior to NX 8.0 we had no mechanism to enforce this policy. Now we do. And before you ask, 'Locked' Attributes cannot be unloaked inside of NX using any sort of interactive procedure or action on the part of the user.

Hi John,

will it be possible to change the attribute in Teamcenter-workspace - and if yes - where? We didn´t find the attribute on any item-object in TC. The reason why we would change it is, that we have a program which read the value of this attribute, to see, if the program start from a master-model or from a specification. The program is asking the exact name of the attribute. But we have different master-model templates and the program is working only with the right attribute-value. So in the past in NX4 the user could change the value, if he uses a wrong template.

I would assume so, but I don't do TC so someone else will have to confirm this.

Have a look in the UGMASTER dataset > named references > UGPartAttributesForm, the should be a reference called UGPART-ATTRIBUTES, this contains the DB_SEED_PART_USED title and value

Hi Khimani Mohiki

that's it! Works fine.

Thanks

Hi all again,

it does not work in that way, as we would expected. It is possible to change the value in Teamcenter. But only on the named Reference "UGPART-ATTRIBUTES" of the UGMaster-dataset. The UGPART-Dataset - the specification - has no named Reference "UGPART-ATTRIBUTES".
Also if I change the value on the named Reference "UGPART-ATTRIBUTES" of the UGMaster-dataset and save it in TC, I could not see any changes in the NX-Part-File properties.

To check the changes in DB attributes there is an option to update DB attributes. Go to Menu Format-> Database attributes and you will see an option to reload/update database attributes.

Actually, the changes done in TC will not reflect directly until user clicks Save/ Update database attributes. Attributes sync is triggered by that process.

As per my knowledge there will be "UGPART-ATTRIBUTES" form on both Master and Specification dataset. If you are not able to see any attributes form in specification dataset and you are having a Attribute "DB_SEED_PART_USED" in specification properties. Then, check the relation whether it is getting the value from UGMaster.

You can check the attributes Sync From Tc to NX vice versa in Mapping file. To view it go to Teamcenter command shell and enter "export_attr_mappings -file=C:\Temp\mappings.txt". This will provide you the mappings of attributes in TC to NX Datasets ( Master, Specification,..).
