attempting to run proengineer 2001 on a win xp pro platform, though when i click the icon on desktop an error message appears reading "bad command or file type"
attempted changing compatibility to win 98(didnt work) then tried to locate the target file and the path (Pro/ENGINEER 2001 [2001280]) is locked into place and cannot be accessed

any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated

Run ptcsetup.bat in your c:\<ProE Loadpoint>\bin directory, and have it reconfigure your desktop icons for you.

You may need to reinstall it into a directory structure that doesn't contain spaces on the folder names.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.
