I designed a shell of 127 ID and 60 in length in advance pressure vessel software. the software says that the result is questionable and says charpy test is required?. Can any one explain why charpy test is required? I am doing Full RT, 100% weld efficiency.
thanks

Yea if the material is normalized i does not require impact test. or i can take exception from impact test using UG-20 (f). i found it know thanks but please post any information that u may want to share here thank you

gayaz,

Search your ASME Codes for UCS-79 and Part D regarding
allowable extreme fiber elongation. This usually triggers
the APV software to include a warning in the shell or
head design report.
