i have a design requiring four inch lengths of stainless steel. 1/8 inch diameter. no special mechanical properties - in a plastic assembly.

which stainless steel is the cheapest in a general application for 1/8 inch diameter? and how much would this cost? per foot preferred.

thanks.

201/202 should be the lowest cost austenitics.
If you don't really care about peoperties at all, and you can take less corrosion resistance, then 410 is probably your best bet.

Corrosion never sleeps, but it can be managed.

Depending on the quantity and source you need you may want to call out 18/8 SS.
