Hi,

Hi All. I am interested in reverse engineering of solenoid valve. Please anyone throw light on solving the follwing problems

In Poppet type check valve how to determine dimension, the distance the poppet rises out of its seat.I am intersted in calculating correct amount of lift for aerospace application.
And i have one more question, how to calculate orifice diameter. As i am having details of flow upstream pressure, pressure drop, leakage rate

thanks in before
John

This is a very specialized area of expertise and even more complicated when it comes to aerospace due to the space limits for the valve.

It will be more logical if you can give more information as:

Gas Pressure
Flow rates
Gas type
Supply voltage
Maximum current available
Type of valve (2 ways, three ways, ON-OFF etc.)
Dimensions
Actuator load or torque requirements
Piston area and travel
External loads and inertia
Environment

and more.

Hi israelkk,

I did orifice design calculation by using continuity equation & Bernoulis equation. Is there any other method to find orifice parameters analyticaly

Folowing are the details

operating pressure: 3100Psig
Flow rate : 1.5Gpm @ 300Psid
Fluid density : .00008 lbf^2/in^4
Supply Voltage : 18-30 VDC
Max current availabilty : 0.5Amps Max @ 28Volts
Type of valve : ON-OFF

Thanks in before

John
