I am about to review the footing design of the Contractor which consist of various single column and combined footings which are modeled as finite elements. It is my first time to do such review so my questions are:

1. How can I check the settlements.
2. How can I check the actual bearing capacity in foundations supported with the modulus of subgrade reaction.
3. Where shall I compare the output stresses such as:
SQX, SQY Shear stresses
SX, SY, SXY Membrane stresses
SMAX, SMIN (Principal stresses)
TMAX Maximum 2D shear stress
VONT, VONB 3D Von Mises stress
TRESCA = MAX[ |(Smax-Smin)| , |(Smax)| , |(Smin)| ]

Recommended for you

1. Settlements are reported by every fe app , as nodal displacements
2. Bearing stress = soil modulus * settlements and must be < bearing resistance
3. nowhere
