Chem PE Preparation

Hi.

I am preparing for April 08 exam for chemical. I have taken the exam several times in the past using Lindberg review books, unfortunately I did't find them useful for the exam. I've been out of school almost 10 years, and I work in the Environmental field. I could not answer some of the industrial based questions from the exam.

Do you have any recommendation on what book I should get to "refresh" some major concepts?

I have just now passed the FE exam myself. Unfortunately I can not offer you much advice for the PE exam.

For the FE exam atleast, I found Kaplan's study guides to be very helpful. The body of the text itself did not do me as much good though. Rather it was working the example problems and practice tests that was the "refresher" I needed.

I have been out of school for about 3 years, and I found that I recongized about 70% of the practice problems but could only work half of them with out issue at first. After a couple months reviewing I reconized all but a handful of questions at most on the exam.

They do have study material for the PE exam aswell. I have not ordered them yet.

The PE exam is an open book test, correct? A copy of Perry's and the study guides is what I would suggest.

Regardless of what reference material you take, my best advice is to familiarize yourself with your material the best you can. I wasted to much time by far on the FE. Time that your flipping pages is time that your not answering the next problem. It is dead time.

Thanks myrdale for your prompt response, I'll check out the Kaplan site.

In my experience studying for the PE exam, I tried to revisit too many topics that had been "unused" and "forgotten". I didn't do too many practice problems in the past; but this time, I will pay the dues.

These are the people that make the test. I used them and passed the first try.
