Hi,

Anyone has perform any chemical compatibility study on Viton O-Ring soak in HFE71IPA ?
Will there be swelling?
Will it contaminate the solvent?
Can I soak Viton O-ring in HFE-71IPA?

Thanks.

Dupont has applications engineers available to help with this and will be happy to send you out some compatibility guides. The literature I have shows the Viton busuness center phone number as 410 392 2500, or Toll-Free at 800 853 5515

My experience with Viton is that is is highly chemical resistant, except it is not happy with chemicals bearing acetate radicals, amines, and it swells a little in water.

There are a LOT of Viton recipes available even from DuPont, and there is probably an optimal formulation for your HFE-71IPA stuff.

I Googled HFE-71IPA: It's made bt 3M and they will also be a source of reference for compatibility. Their stuff does not mention viton but does mention the inexpensive common elastomers. Excerpt:
Metal Plastics Elastomers
Aluminum Acrylic Butyl Rubber
Copper Polyethylene Natural Rubber
Carbon Steel Polypropylene Nitrile Rubber
302 SS Polycarbonate EPDM
Brass Polyester
Zinc Nylon
Molybdenum Epoxy
Tantalum PMMA
Titanium PVC
Tungsten PET
Cu/Be Alloy C172 ABS
Magnesium Alloy AZ31B
