I am in the process of installing a THF storage vessel the capacity of this vessel is 27,000L. The tank will have a Nitrogen blanket on it at a pressure of 0.3bar g. And a normal spring seated PRV with a set point of 1 bar g.
a consultant has reviewed the design of the tank to PD5500 2003 Cat 2 and has stated that the MAWP of the tank is limited to 2 bar g and that due to the location of 2 nozzles ( one at either end of the tank located in the knuckle radius) it will not fully comply with PD5500 2003 cat 2.
My question is: If all the design calcs show that the MAWP of the tank is 2 bar g and it has been hydrostatically pressure tested to 2.5 bar g, is it acceptable that the tank does not fully comply with PD5500 2003 cat 2, or is it required by law that all pressure vessels adhere to PD5500?
