Which is better for Chilled Water Valves Sealing PTFE or EPDM? And which of them is better for heating?

Hello nassergnasser!

Both will (as indicated) be OK in general. 'Best' will, as always, be depending on a multitude of all relevant details: type of valve(globe, gate, knifegate, ball, check, control etc), size and pressure, temperature limits, detailed construction, precision in machining, type of sealing (seat or body), frequency in operating and so forth, quality of sealing material (EPDM is not always quality EPDM).

General: PTFE if additives present not compatible with EPDM
PTFE if temperature near limits for EPDM.

(General questions without details will produce fewer and general answers)

Thx for the response gerhardt.

I'll go into more detail: I'm selecting ball, gate and globe valves for chilled water 5 to 13 degrees C pressure 10 bar. Is that enough to get a specific answer or do you need more data?
