Hello !

1. Does anybody know if there is a corrosion alloy selection software that guides you on the selection of alloys for different corrosive environments and applications ?

2. What would be the most appropriate alloys for water at 30 Celsius and 1,130 ppm of chloride ?

Thank you.

You can try the Nickel Development Institute, see the following web site. They had some free software that you could download with good technical information on various nickel-based alloys.

I would consider AL-6XN in your situation.

You might also consider the Cambridge Materials Selector. If I recall correctly this uses the Ashby system to provide an optimization for materials selection and process design.

Contact Trent Tube for a paper given by Dan Janikowski last year, or year before. It does a good job of a side by side comparison of a lot of alloys for specific chloride tests. They will always tout their SeaCure alloy over AL6XN, 400 series SS, or even some Duplex alloys.
