Hi guys,

I'm doing some preliminary design for a (as yet, hypothetical) structure in NYC. We're trying to play with some raking concrete columns/struts on the building's facade that, with 4 large columns on the building's 4 corners (think truss top/bottom chords) will resist part of the lateral loads with the rest being taken by a concrete core. The gravity load itself is more or less distributed evenly between the core and internal columns, with not much taken by the raked columns on the outside. Table 12.2-1 in ASCE7-10 only lists the coefficients for a buildings that fall within typical force resisting systems, but I can't find anywhere that talks about what to do when when a combination of systems are used- only combinations involving moment frames seem to be listed.

Does anybody have any guidance here?

12.2.3? Combinations of different systems in the same direction.
(i.e. use the most stringent system limitations).

(ref. ASCE 7-10)
