CIMplicity HMI -to multi GE VersaMax MICRO on two RS-485 multidrops
Anyone done this before and have any insight and pitfalls to pass along! I have worked with both, but never over RS-485 (single & multi server - resource Ethernet TCP/IP and single RS-232 I have done).
I have dual port Quatech RS-485 PCI card, w/ DB-9 connectors, I understand the following is needed, is this true and any other info or sample hookup:
1) There needs to be ONE termination resistor ( 50 ohms, I think?? ) for ALL drops on EACH port.
2) Each VersaMax Mico will need an address setup using VersaPro hardware setup?
3) Each micro will need a resource in CIMplicity?
Getting ready to start hookup and debugging this next week. This is 4 small micro based testers, 2 on 2 each RS-485 ports to display and append to file the end of test result data record in CSV text file. More testers added as needed.
In future CIMplicity will also print unit labels over dedicated RS-232 ports, in parrallel with data collection. Adding 8 RS-232 port card for this.
