I have a tapered, cylindrical object, on the surface of which I am placing an #8-32 cs'k hole perpendicular to the surface at 45 degrees. For whatever reason, "up to next" is not available so I chose "up to surface" and picked the inside surface of the part. It did not punch all the way through the part, only through the thickness of the material to the inside surface. However, I circular patterned this hole 10 degees, rotated 180 degrees and saw that it had gone all the way through. Why is this hole showing through all in the circular pattern but not in the original hole? I have SW 2004 but I have seen this same problem in 2003.

You should this to your VAR - It sounds like it might be a bug.

In the feature tree for the original hole feature, click on the [+] next to the hole feature and expand it out. Right click on the second sketch within it and choose `Edit sketch' from the pop-up menu.
You should then be able to see where the hole feature is cutting to. (even in a thru hole situation you should see the drill point) If it doesn't match your terminating condition, you have a valid SPR item to forward to the VAR.
If the feature profile is correct and the display is still wrong, there may be a display or surface issue involved.

Toggle wireframe and shaded display to see if anything is different. Also try toggling [ ] Geometry Pattern, within your circular pattern. (it may fail to rebuild for which you may simply `Edit Feature' and set it back again)

I have tried to duplicate your problem ... without success. My model works fine & I was able to select "Up to next" also.

Can you send the file to the email address in my profile & I will take a look.
