I want to check my interpretation of Article 4.1.8.18 (NBCC 2015) for "Elements of Structures, Non-structural Components and Equipment":
Sentence 1 provides the equation and defines Sp with a limit between 0.7 and 4.0. When we consider Sentence 7 for the "connections to the structure of elements and components", the analysis is updated with a new Rp value based on the type of connection. Does the Sp limit still apply for the force on the connection if the value is increased beyond 4.0 due to the change in Rp? Mathematically this would only occur for a dozen or so cases and, in general, only if the component was at the top of the building (i.e. Ax=3.0)
