Is anyone familiar with a solution for meeting a Class I Div 2 Group D certification for a CAT G3412 natural gas drive engine? Specifically, relating to the air/fuel ratio controller and alternator. CAT can provide the Class I, Div 2 certified engine, but I'm running into a road block with the associated electronics. I've heard a few people mention a powerband system that may be an option, but I haven't been able to find any related info.

Best Regards,

"powerband system " ... surely they meant Pyroban system (Cat owns Pyroban since ~Aug 2011), and Pyroban makes kits to convert engines for use in hazardous locations. Pyroban specializes in ATEX conversions (esp. Zone 2), and their offerings for Class 1 Div 2 locations are somewhat limited at the moment.

Cat does offer a Class 1 Div 2 certified alternator (they call it a "CSA" alternator after the certifying lab / NRTL). 24V, ~65A, cert'd up to 8000rpm, Cat P/N 298-8838.

I think Altronic offers a variety of Class 1 Div 2 AFRCs (
