CEC J18-164( in Canada)allows non explosion proof motors in Div 2 areas based on certain conditions. You need to evaluate whether it contains sparking, arcing, or heat producing components unless said components are connected to intrinsically safe or non-incendive ciruits.

If you are powering a space heater, check the heater for Div 2 suitability - or don't connect it.

Non-sparking fans are desirable.

Per NEC 501-8; in Class I, Division 2 locations, the installation of open or non-explosion proof enclosed motors, such as squirrel cage induction motors without brushes, switching mechanisms, or similar arc-producing devises shall be permitted.

Note that were flammable gases or vapors with very low ignition temperatures may be present, high temperature motors like class H (180°C operating temp) should be avoided.

Caution: NEC stipulates a minimum safety, only. If there is some more important or expensive process, the more secure enclosures are considered, e.g. XP motor type.
