Can anyone assist. I am currently designing a clean room and have done all the calcs. Taking into account the door leakages and stabiliser flow rates, the overall flow rate exceeds the duty of the existing AHU plant.

The only way I can see to reduce the duty requirement on the main Air Handling Unit is to use recirculating fan-filter units. I have tried finding out who supplies these but I have had little success. The sort I mean fit in a ceiling space with an inlet/outlet connection and a HEPA filter...with possibly a heater/cooler battery.

Can anyone help? A UK supplier if possible please...(but if not, I can always ring them and ask for an import cost)

Yours in anticipation

Try M+W Zander or Daldrop Ltd, both German companies with offices world wide and definatly in the UK. These guys are clean room specialists and both do Fan filter units FFU, ceilings, walls, floors, air handling units, switch gear, just about everything for your clean room needs.

Look them up on the internet for ph numbers in UK.
I have used both over the past few years and both are excellent.
The Fan filter units are all on speed control and can be connected up on a BacNet LAN to a head end computer or BMS for monitering purposes,

Good luck.

Just another thing. There is no cooling coil in the Fan filter units, but it can be located in the ceiling grid to look after sensible cooling in the space. I have done this before. Just watch the temperature of the chilled water, will have to be up around 15 deg C to avoid latent cooling and water dripping. This is another thing the FFU suplier can supply you with all part of the ceiling system.

I have used Envirco units in the past. They are good and cheap. The main problem with these units is that they have fixed folw rates. I am against modular fan filter units because we have to discard them along with fan if the HEPA life is over. Moreover, there is no chance to control flow.

I would suggest to get any of the LAF module manufacturers to have custom built FFUs.

Regards,

The M+W Zander FFU, HEPA or ULPA filters can be changed from the room side without discarding of the fan unit, quite easily
