I am involved with the installation of a steam turbine driving a 30 MW generator. Where can I find a procedure for adequately blowing and/or chemically cleaning the upstream carbon steel piping?

Thanks,kbull

Turbine suppliers are generally very "helpful" in this regard, since they don't want any problems during warranty period. I'd check the turbine supplier's recommendations. What I've seen is chemical cleaning followed by seemingly endless steam blows. A polished steel target is place at the end of the steam blow line. If anything shows up on the target (and I mean anything), you keep blowing. Get some good ear protection.
