Is there a way to clear the recent documents in SolidWorks? When we test potential new employees in SolidWorks we would like to remove the recent files so they do not have easy access to prior testers work.

Diego,

Moving or deleting the prior files will do the same.

You can remove the recent documents from the registry. Go to

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-XXXX\Software\SolidWorks\Solidworks 2016\Recent File List

Where S-1-5-21-XXXX is your User's Security Identifier (SID).

I would suggest to just do a search over the registry for Recent File List. Once found remove all sub nodes (e.g File0, File1, ...). Make sure you did it when SolidWorks is closed otherwise it will be overwritten.

Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated. I've asked the manager just to move the files rather than muck around in the registry files, but both methods work fine.

Copy and paste the following into Notepad, edit to suit the SW version used, and save with a .reg extension. Double click the reg file to clear the Recent File list.

Code:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solidworks\SolidWorks 2014\Recent File List]

"File2"=""
"File3"=""
"File4"=""
