I have just begun to play around with solidworks 2001 and have not figured out how to close a contour. I have made my shape, cut out what I need, removed the excess, but when I try to extrude it it tells me there are open contours.

Any suggestions?

CrashJ,

It sounds like you have a line that isn't terminating on another line. When you get the message of open contours, it often will highlight the problem area....zoom in on that and you may find the problem. You can either trim the excess or delete what you have. If you like you can send me the file and I can look at it. I won't be able to send it back due to running 2003 on my system. But I can let you know where the problem is.

I find that sometimes I have to take the Trim/Extend tool and extend every sketch segment to find the gap.
