Any body will recommend coating on Gasket Seating Surface (GSS). Actually I had been told, perform coating on GSS after machining (150-225 RMS)the surface. After coating the whole surface from inside and GSS; another machining is being recommended for serrations on GSS. Though serration was already there at the time of 1st machining. What will be the reasonable practice.thanks

MK_666, what is coating for, corrosion resistance?

You best bet would be to contact the coating manufacturer, I have seen some systems that use a thick (~50 mil) film, some that use a thin (~10 mil) film on gasket surfaces. As well, the gasket should be selected for compatibility with a coating.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

May clarify the instruction of the repeat machining of the GSS, which didn't make any sense.
