I'm a young materials engineer working on the development of an aluminide coating process for aircraft engine components using simple CVD. I'm trying to look 10 years ahead and I wonder is the job of a coatings engineer one that can always be employed? Is it so focused that the supply of career opportunities as a coatings engineer will not always meet the demand, leaving some searching for employment outside their chosen career field? Is there only a handful of these jobs out there?
