Code edition for new pump at existing facility

Our customer is adding equipment to their 10 year old operating facility. Part of this addition will be a new API 610 pump. For compatibility it is desirable to purchase a pump identical to those already installed. The original pumps were purchased to API 610 7 th edition while API 610 is 9 th edition is current for new construction.

Is it permissible to install a new pump in a new application manufactured to API 610 7 th edition while the 9 th edition governs new construction today?

Your help identifying the correct answer as well as references that support it will be most appreciated.
