Studying for the PE exam and notice I miss a lot of details from ASCE on seismic and snow, since I don't live in an area where I have to design for the respective effects. Also noticed that the PE questions like to ask about simplified wind methods, which I know little about.

I came across the CodeMasters set and thought it might be able to help me avoid missing a detail on the exam. Does anyone have PDF copies they would be willing to share, or has anyone used them on a PE/SE exam and have any comments on how useful it might be?

Or, hey, maybe someone on this site has a personal reference that's even better! The alternative to this is making my own

Funny story: When I sat for the SE, a guy showed up with all the CodeMaster sheets loose and not much else for reference. They told him he he couldn't have them. He said he couldn't take the test without them. Some other people tried to help him out and find a binder so he could keep them, but he just got up and left saying he had better things to do.

I only had them because PPI included them with their package deal. I used them a bit studying be never on the test.

According to your handle, you are from Colorado and don't have to design for snow? Hmm.

The moon is probably the only place where you don't have to design for seismic or snow (or gravity loads).

pvchabot that's a literal nightmare! That's also impressive to show up to the SE with only a few sheets as references...

MotorCity, no clue why it says Colorado or even how to see that... Florida must count as the moon, though we still have to deal with gravity loads for now

I always thought Florida was more like Mars.

My opinion is that CodeMasters would not be helpful for the PE. I took the Civil-Structural portion. Idk about the SE but plan is to take that next spring.

Thanks GC. I did consider that the load based questions on the PE will probably be too surface level for the CodeMasters material.

I am just trying to make sure I give myself the absolute best possibility of seeing PASS on my account in a few months. I think I will make my own shortcut sheet on each load type and skip CodeMasters.
