Aloha,

I'm performing a worm gear efficiency calculation and I am trying to locate STATIC coefficients of friction and coefficients of friction at different sliding speeds for a cast iron wheel and hardened steel worm.

I've been looking all over and I can't seem to find what im looking for. Can any of you help me out?

Are you sure you want that combination? Worm gear sets benefit from one of the elements having flexibility and low friction properties. I have used hardened steel worm against bronze and nylon plastic worm against acetal gear. These are opposites, but they work.

I do not have the data you requiere but do have two different worm gear speed reducers and gear manufacturers that list the power capability of a stablished set of worm and wheel in stel/cast iron as HALF the power of the same combination on steel/bronze, maybe that will help.

Cheers
